It's our third day at WMC, and so far we couldn't have wished for a better start. With great anticipation we set out into the beaming sunshine for one of the annual pinnacle events of this week... Robbie Rivera's Juicy Beach party at famed Nikki Beach. After getting Martijn Ten Velden to latch onto our troop, we sped down to the foot of Ocean Drive and prepared for what is always a pain-in-the-ass entry to Nikki Beach. If you've never been, you have to make it a stop on any trip to Miami, as the venue itself is awesome. But just be prepared for horrendous staff and terrible service. It seems every year, the only place we have a problem is at this club... regardless of the promoter, the time, or the event, it's always a hassle getting into Nikki Beach. Fortunately knowing pays, and thank you to Lainie for expediting our entry. Once inside, we hooked up with the Toolroom crew - Mark Knight, Funkagenda, ATFC, Phil Sales, and Pete Griffiths - and we all got our drinks, sunburns, and ears for hot tunes on for a great afternoon. Starkiller Nick Terranova and Austin Leeds were pumping the scantily clad crowd with their brand of anthematic house and prog, capping it off nicely with the remake of Robin S' "Show Me Love" and paving the way for some serious music from the one and only Mark Knight. When Mark took control, you could tell that it was going to be something special. His technical precision and intelligent programming really whipped the crowd into a frenzy. Hammering Toolroom anthems like "What The F*ck!" and "Columbian Soul" as well as fresh new material... most notably a Funkagenda bootleg of Daft Punk's "Around The World", Mark was definitely praised by many of the punters as the best set of the afternoon. It was definitely a musical highlight of the trip. After an amazing set, label frontman and Miami local Robbie Rivera took over to the jacked crowd who with their hands in the air were ready for Robbie's unique brand of electronic beats. Although we only stayed for the afternoon, the event went well into the night featuring notables Axwell, Steve Angello & Sebastian Ingrosso, DJ Dan & Donald Glaude, Sander Van Doorn, and more. All in all, if you can handle the staff, Juicy Beach and Nikki Beach is a must every year at WMC, and this was no exception.
