 ::: Ben Watt Interview Ben Watt is still best-known as half of the duo Everything but the Girl, which first performed together in 1982. That year, EBTG's Tracey Thorn released her solo debut, A Distant Shore, while Watt released his, North Marine Drive, the following year. Watt's LP went to number one on the U.K. indie charts and included a cover of Bob Dylan's "You're Gonna Make Me Lonesome When You Go." Everything but the Girl's early material was lite-jazz, but their major international breakthrough came in the dance music genre with Todd Terry's 1995 remix of the song "Missing," which originally appeared on the album Amplified Heart... ::: Read the Interview |

After checking out some great UK beats at Circus, we headed back over to the base camp and into Shine for SAW Recordings' annual WMC soiree. Label mates Satoshi Tomiie and Hector Romero were joined by Spencer Parker, Diesel from X-Press2 and the incomparable Audiofly. As we rolled into the venue, the blazing beats of Audiofly were pumping the full house as Hector played a fine host as always. Running around the VIP lounge were the likes of David Morales, Judy Weinstein, Slok, Funkagenda, and more dance music luminaries. After a few bevvies and some catching up with some Canadian crew it was time for the main man, Mr. Satoshi Tomiie to hit the decks and take control of the room. With his signature earbuds and red-incased Mac, Satoshi threw down some sick beats into the wee hours of the morning.
