Thankfully, due to some sweet scheduling and luck on our part, we were able to do a little party hopping, jumping upstairs from Opium Garden to the club within a club, Prive. One of the most respected names in modern house music, Mark Knight and his signature Toolroom Records brought their cool new Toolroom Knights event concept to the ultra posh addendum to Opium Garden. This event was a classic case of amazing music and absolutely awful venue! Split into 2 rooms, the initial sounds emanating down the staircase leading up to the rooms was hip hop! And not good underground stuff... cheesy top 40 American sludge. Thankfully I know the venue and knew that there was a second room, so with confidence we'd find the dirty house sounds we craved I rested assured my weary companions and we thankfully led ourselves into the Toolroom section. D Ramirez was already scorching the decks with some serious tunes. Mingling with label boys, other hip artists and Mr. Knight himself, we quickly were able to notice the sprinkling of true electronic music fans, with dazed deer-in-the-headlights gazes of Miami locals who had no idea what was going on. With no semblance of a dancefloor, and more booths per square inch than a GAP change room, the vibe really suffered and the people who were in the know hadn't a proper outlet to show their appreciation for the serious music being delivered by Ramirez and then Mark Knight himself. So despite the insanely amazing choonage, our dancing shoes were gearing up, so it was on to the next event, and hopefully a real dancefloor.
